Neo-Classicism is the style that dominates the first part of the 19th century. The French Revolution has just ended, setting stage for the great propagandist, Jacques Louis David. Napoleon declares himself emperor, determined to make Paris a new Rome.

The Neo-Classical style is rivaled, however by a new style called Romanticism. But before the Romantics, there were some precursors that set the stage. Men that belong in a category of their own.
